Honoring the Land and Its First Peoples

We acknowledge that Bower Woods is located on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy—including the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations—the Tsuut’ina Nation, and the Îyârhe Nakoda, comprising the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations. We also recognize the histories and contributions of the Cree, Saulteaux, and Métis peoples of Region 3, whose presence continues to enrich this region.

The Red Deer River, flowing through our city, serves as a natural boundary between Treaty 6 to the north and Treaty 7 to the south. Bower Woods is situated within Treaty 7 territory.

We honour the enduring connection between Indigenous Peoples and this land, and we are committed to fostering relationships rooted in respect, understanding, and reconciliation.
