Our Position on Molly Bannister Drive
At Melcor, we recognize the long-standing community conversation surrounding the potential extension of Molly Bannister Drive. This planned road has been part of Red Deer’s municipal planning process for since the 1970s and would cross through the southern portion of Bower Woods, connecting across Piper Creek.
Our approach to this matter is both thoughtful and flexible.
We are committed to preserving the integrity of the natural area that makes Bower Woods such a unique and desirable place to live. The woodland, creekside trails, and green spaces are the heart of this community — and our design prioritizes their protection.
At the same time, we also understand the importance of planning for the future. Our current community design respects and accommodates the potential for a road alignment, should the City determine it is necessary one day. We are not building over or obstructing the proposed right-of-way, ensuring that the option remains available for future generations and evolving city needs.
In this way, Bower Woods strives to strike a balance between conservation and connectivity. We’re creating a legacy neighbourhood rooted in nature and history — while leaving room for the city’s long-term infrastructure plans to adapt over time.
