Red Deer's Final Southeast Master Planned Community

A New Chapter for Red Deer's South Side

It’s official! In September 2025, Red Deer City Council approved Bower Woods, a thoughtfully designed master-planned community by Melcor Developments Ltd.

Set along the Piper Creek corridor, Bower Woods will bring over 800 new homes, 59 acres of park space, and a $500 million economic boost to the region over the next decade.

Bower Woods is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a neighbourhood that balances growth with environmental preservation. We’re proud to protect the Piper Creek corridor while offering new housing choices, vibrant green spaces, and a commercial hub that will serve residents and surrounding communities.
Gregg Broks, Regional Manager of Community Development

Rooted in History...and Nature

The name Bower Woods honours the Bower family, whose legacy of stewardship and quiet philanthropy shaped Red Deer’s growth. The family donated nearly 200 hectares for the Bower Wildlife Sanctuary, and their original homestead lands now form the heart of this community.

Architectural design standards will feature a modern farmhouse aesthetic, nodding to the site’s agricultural past while complementing the surrounding woodland.

A Connected, Complete Community
